On almost every Saturday since Israel’s deadly assault on Gaza began, crowds often numbering into their thousands have taken to the streets of Cardiff to demand a ceasefire.

The movement has taken off in response to the unrelenting and brutal bombardment of the Palestinian people, which experts have labelled as a genocide.

According to Al Jazeera at time of writing, Israel has killed 40,319 people in Gaza in the space of just ten months. 15,000 of the dead are children. A further 91,722 have been injured, often with life changing injuries, and over 10,000 people are missing although the true figure is expected to be higher.

It is this devastating reality, backed by Western governments including Britain, that has provoked a movement unlike anything ever witnessed in Wales. This has not been confined to simply marching, but has involved sit-downs, occupations, encampments and blockades of companies entrenched in Israel’s genocidal war.

Photo journalist Ka Long Tung has been documenting the protests over several months. This is a selection of some of his images.
