Hundreds of people from across Wales and beyond will gather together to hold a 500-metre Red Line — a striking symbol of how many red lines Israel and its Western backers have crossed.
From bombing hospitals and schools to shooting starving people desperate for aid, Israel has been allowed to commit some of the worst crimes against humanity in Gaza. Now the IDF has created mass starvation of Palestinians by deliberately blocking food deliveries and shooting unarmed civilians at distribution points.
Israel has also continued a programme of violent settler expansion in the West Bank, destroying Palestinian villages and stealing vital resources.
Organisers of the march say it will be an act defiance against Israel’s genocide in Gaza and its decades-long occupation of Palestine.
The Red Line was created by Bournemouth based Palestine Solidarity Movement and has become an international emblem of protest, previously unfurled outside the White House, Westminster and the Senedd and more recently in Carmarthen.
“Now, that same Red Line comes to our streets, held by the hands of those who demand justice for Palestine,” a spokesperson for Palestine Solidarity Aberystwyth said.
“This is not just a city movement. In small towns across West Wales, weekly vigils have continued for over 80 weeks. Local people have raised funds for schools in Gaza, supported displaced children, and stood steadfast in solidarity.”
Buses are coming from across Wales to join the march, and 60 organisations have backed the call to form a human red line.
“We are part of a proud Welsh tradition of standing for generations against oppression,” the organisers said.
“This moment calls on that same spirit. We expect hundreds to join us in Aberystwyth. We need voices, bodies, banners, and hearts united in resistance. Israel has crossed every red line imaginable — bombing civilians, razing hospitals, starving children. Yet our leaders remain silent. If our governments won’t draw the line, we will become it.
“The Red Line symbolises the breaking point — not only for international law, but for our collective conscience. Wales’ First Minister and MSs now face a moral choice: If this is not the red line, what is?”
